A personal favorite thus far. In the lower left, a rainbow themed Lombard street spells the S, sailboat the A, and Transamerica/cable car/clock tower the N. A fog riddled Golden Gate Bridge plops gold chunks into the water. Below the bridge, Alcatraz juts into view firm and cold as the people that once inhabited it. A white rabbit perched atop the iconic Haight Ashbury street sign reminisces with hippies and the tendency to put flowers in there hair(my first art pun).
D.C. comes to life with individually cut colors representing each of it's neighborhoods. Below, the districts flag gets a colorful makeover, while above, the minimal skyline presents itself on some fluffy clouds. This city bustles with throngs of people every spring in the hopes of seeing the iconic and spectacular cherry blossom bloom. Black colored areas represent parks and the lines over the river show bridges.
Baltimore city separated into its hundreds of neighborhoods. A moment that defined and ensured American independence happened at Ft. Mchenry; seen protecting the United States flag with a steamed and un-steamed blue crab clinging fins to the outer walls. To the right of the fort, the flag of Lord Baltimore. Primarily around the harbor, industrial areas are represented with heavy grit sandpaper. B More, hon.
The city that never sleeps stays wide awake. On the right, a blue skyline of Manhattan protrudes into view atop a magenta sky settling into night. The lines of the NYC subway bubble upwards while the cities nickname, "The Big Apple", present three descending apples below. The right and left side contrast night and day, because night or day, Manhattan is always animated and alive.
This is as high as I've gotten with a city. The sun sets on rainbow tinged snowy Rockies , while below, the state flower(columbine) and tree(blue spruce) spring out of the greenery. Nothing compares to the natural amphitheater known as Red Rocks, shown at the bottom center. A frozen highway sign welcomes you to the city of Denver with its elevation. Behind that sign is the first interstate to receive a contract for pavement, I-70, running vertical as part of a post holding the colored neighborhoods of Denver. The place with thin air gets some flair.
The Windy city gets a gust of color. The Sears(Willis) Tower soars over Chicago while airplanes fly into Midway and O'hare airport. The famed loop and all its many lines meet in the top left, while below, a deep dish pizza slice helps a Chicago style hot dog catch some wind on a green Chicago river.
This is my hometown, Annapolis, nicknamed "Naptown". The Bay Bridge pours Old Bay(real Old Bay was used) into the Chesapeake while a blue heron perched upon a dropping anchor observes. St. Annes Parish, the Naval Academy dome, and the State House present a collection of buildings that define the capitol cities history and identity. One of my fondest childhood memories was watching(and listening) to the blue angels fly over head. The state flower, the black eyed susan, pops out above the Maryland state flag.
